Sweet corn

season is upon us again. Jan put up, and froze, 24 bags today. She planted a couple of tomato plants along the side of the house and they have been producing great looking and tasting tomatoes. This is a time of year that can't be beat is some ways. We have also had what seems like an awful amount of storms. So far we have been lucky and missed the bad ones. The sweet corn is courtesy of Mark by the way.
The economy is on most peoples mind these days. Food along with most everything is going up in price, in what seems like huge jumps. I've been wondering if the day may come when some people may have to give up cell phones and 150 channel cable TV, in order to have food on the table. Really a scary thought, since we have become accustomed to so many thinga that didn't even exist just a few short years ago years ago.

Ice cream was invented in 1620.
Every time Beethoven sat down to write music, he poured ice water over his head.
Many snakes can live a whole year without eating.
Everybody ought to know things like this.

Mark is flying to Phoenix tomorrow and bringing an entire suitcase filled with sweet corn. We cannot wait for that! (and him!) :-)

My mouth is truly watering for some Iowa tomatoes, though, too!
